Brazil: Lula won’t travel to Brics summit in Russia due to injury – Bluewin

Oh Lula, Not Again! A Comedic Comment on Brazil’s President Missing the BRICS Summit

Well, folks, it seems that Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is taking “getting ahead” a little too literally! Reports say our favorite politician has suffered a head injury—yes, a cut to the head just when he was supposed to head to Russia for the BRICS summit. Now, if I had a penny for every time a world leader had to skip a summit because of a head injury, I’d have… well, I’d probably still be broke considering the competition!

A High-Flying Affair, but Not for Lula

Doctors, in their infinite wisdom—or perhaps just a touch of pragmatism—have advised the 78-year-old Lula to avoid long-haul flights. Now, I’m not saying they’re being overly cautious, but it almost sounds like a polite way of saying, “Lula, mate, you’re not exactly flying high in the first place!” Instead, Lula will be attending the summit via video link. Why go all the way to Russia when you can just pop on Zoom in your pajamas? I mean, have you seen the price of airline tickets these days?

Kazan Awaits: Without Lula, More Room for Putin’s Photo Ops

Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin will be rolling out the red carpet for the other esteemed heads of state in Kazan, Russia. The Kremlin is undoubtedly looking forward to showing off at this summit of the BRICS nations, which has now expanded to include the likes of Iran and the UAE. Who needs the G7 when you can have a raucous party of BRICS, right? It’s like a high school reunion gone right, only with world leaders and without the awkward small talk about what products they’ve been pushing in their latest marketing campaigns!

Lula’s absence will be felt, or maybe just quietly noted by those still trying to impress Putin with their Instagram stories from the Kremlin. “Look at me! I’m networking!” One can almost hear the collective sigh from the other leaders: “Great, another summit where we have to explain our policies to a camera instead of someone who might buy us a drink!”

The Silver Lining: A Chance to Stay Home

But let’s not dwell on the spectacle of world politics too much—after all, Lula can still participate from the comfort of his own home. Who wouldn’t want to show up in a summit while comfortably lounging on their sofa? One can only imagine the kind of relaxed demeanor he’ll bring to the table: “Hey, let’s just resolve world issues from my living room!” Maybe he’ll even update us on the best snack to have while discussing economic policies—pillow snacks go a long way!

In Conclusion

So here’s to you, Lula! We hope your cut heals swiftly and your next long-haul flight doesn’t result in another heroic story to tell your grandkids. As for the rest of us, let’s remember that politics, much like life, is often filled with unexpected twists and turns and the occasional trip to the ER. After all, if you can’t have a bit of fun while discussing global politics, are you even doing it right? Until next time, folks!

According to consistent media reports, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will not travel to the summit of the Brics group of states in Russia due to an injury. Lula suffered a cut to his head at home on Saturday, the news portal “G1” and CNN Brazil reported, citing a doctor’s letter distributed by the presidential office.

It says that after an examination, the doctors advised the 78-year-old to avoid long-haul flights. However, he can pursue his other activities. Lula will take part in the summit via video link, according to reports in a separate statement.

Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin will receive the other heads of state and government of the group from October 22nd to 24th in Kazan, Russia – the capital of the Russian republic of Tatarstan. Moscow is announcing the summit of the group led by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (Brics), which has now expanded to include Iran and the United Arab Emirates, among others, as a world political event.
