Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will travel to the southeastern city of Santos on Tuesday morning to pay his last respects to legendary footballer Pelé, who died Thursday at the age of 82, the presidency announced on Monday. Lula, sworn in as president on Sunday January 1, will thus make the first trip of his term outside of Brasilia to “pay homage to Pelé”, whose coffin is on display in the Santos stadium, “and in solidarity with his family, Tuesday at 9 hours” (12:00 UT), specified the presidency. A funeral wake began this Monday, January 2 at 10 a.m. in the Santos FC club where Pelé wrote a good part of his legend. Open to the public for 24 hours without interruption, it will end on Tuesday shortly following the passage of Lula.
