Have you ever stopped to think about how our devices have become an extension of our bodies? Whether it’s for work, communicating with friends and family or just hanging out, many of us spend hours looking at the screen of our devices.

So the folks at Electronics Hubs did a thorough analysis of two surveys to break down usage of these devices around the world, including how often people check them, and profile the latest global landscape.

O Brazil, for example, appears as the second country with the highest average daily time spent in front of screens. The study indicates that we spent approximately 9 hours and 32 minutes of the day with eyes glued to displays.

Still according to the survey, taking into account the average time we spend awake, this is equivalent to 56,61% — even longer than Argentines (53.8%), Colombians (53.2%) and Chileans (51.6%).

Another interesting fact is that Brazil is the second country that spends the most time using cell phones (32.46%), but the fifth when it comes to computer use (24.15%). The first four places are occupied by South Africa (26.69%), Russia (25.87%), Colombia (24.68%) and Argentina (24.46%), respectively.

In social networks, our country appears once again in the vice-leadership. Research indicates that around 22.37% of the time we spend awake is spent on these platforms. On the other hand, Japan is the country that appears at the bottom of the ranking (4.92%).

When analyzing the global scenario, it is worth noting that South Africans spend almost ⅗ (58.2%) of the average time they are awake in front of devices — that’s more than any other nation.

When it comes to spending time using their cell phones, Filipinos are leading the way: they spend about ⅓ (32.5%) of their day on smartphones. The second place, as mentioned, is Brazil (32.4%), followed by South Africa (31.5%).

The population of Saudi Arabia, in turn, spends the most time immersed in games. According to the survey, they spend 11.5% of their waking time in games. Finally, surprisingly, Japan has the lowest average screen time of any country. Its population spends only 21.7% of the day on their devices.
