Brazil, Colombia and Mexico ask that the voting at the tables be known

The governments of BrazilColombia and Mexico said they are closely following the vote counting process from last Sunday’s elections and called on Venezuelan electoral authorities “to move forward expeditiously and publicly release the data broken down by voting table.”

In a statement, the three countries insisted that disputes over the electoral process must be resolved through institutional channels. “The fundamental principle of popular sovereignty must be respected through impartial verification of the results.”

In this context, we call on political and social actors to exercise maximum caution and restraint in their demonstrations and public events in order to avoid an escalation of violent episodes, the statement said.

Maintaining social peace and protecting human lives must be the priority concerns at this time.

Let this be an opportunity to express, once again, our absolute respect for the sovereignty of the will of the people of Venezuela. We reiterate our willingness to support efforts for dialogue and the search for agreements that benefit the Venezuelan people.
