Brazil: Chico Buarque denounced Bolsonaro’s son | For “moral damage”

The Brazilian singer Chico Buarque (photo, together with Lula) sued Flavio Bolsonaroson of the president Jair Bolsonarofor moral damages to his honor and image, for the improper use of images from his album “Chico Buarque de Hollanda”, from 1966, in a montage he posted on Instagram to “confuse voters”. The musician is one of the celebrities who supports Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the elections of that country.

“In the montage posted by Flávio on his Instagram, Jair Bolsonaro’s son attacks those who vote for Lula and suggests Chico’s support for an alleged robbery of the poor“said the musician’s lawyer, João Tancredo to the local environment O´Globo.

“This is undeniably an unauthorized and improper use of the image, in a context that threatens his honor and tarnishes his reputation, in addition to confusing voters, by linking him to the image of a candidate in which he not only does not support, but strongly rejects for his open defense of the dictatorial regime, torture, the death of political opponents, among other points,” said Tancredo.

The case is in the 6th Specialized Civil Court of the District of Capital Lagoa. Francisco Buarque de Hollanda (his real name for him) is one of the best known representatives of the so-called Brazilian Popular Musicwith more than 17 albums recorded and a musical career spanning more than five decades.
