LETTERS:Up to 40 car owners in Sydthy risk disturbed spring sensations. The summer tires with rims for the car, which they had in full confidence in Sydthy Autoværksted stored in the garage’s tire hotel, are no longer there. They have been stolen.
– There are between 35 and 40 customer wheels. They were in a closed container next to the workshop. Towards the weekend we discovered that the door to the container was ajar. The lock has been broken and the trailer is empty, says Allan Ninn, owner of Sydthy Autoservice on Poppelvej in Hurup.
He has not had time to notify the car owners, but says that his own insurance company is involved in the case. He expects the loss to be covered by the individual car owners’ comprehensive insurance, if they have one. They do not need to take any action themselves.
– It’s mega-slavery. Of course I must have made up the value of the wheels. We reported it on Friday followingnoon, but it must have happened before, as there were no footprints in the snow by the container. We have had exhaust parts stolen on two occasions, a week apart, and I think the tires may have disappeared at the same time as the latest of the two thefts, says Allan Ninn.
He has had the workshop for 16 years.
– We have been spared burglaries and thefts of this caliber until this happened, says the owner.
The local police have been out at Sydthy Autoværksted to look for clues from the break-in.
