About three years ago, the Lada Niva Travel debuted, which, compared to the Chevrolet Niva, had a deeply redesigned front part of the body. Since that moment, the Togliatti Automobile Plant has made only subtle changes to this SUV. That is, in fact, by now, Niva’s age is more than 10 years. Therefore, the model already needs a deep update. Moreover, this was indirectly confirmed by representatives of AvtoVAZ.
In a series of renderings, an independent designer showed what the future Lada Niva Travel NG 2024 might look like. The body for this model will most likely be developed by AvtoVAZ. That is, the company, despite active work with Chinese partners, will continue to develop part of the cars on its own. AvtoVAZ will also independently develop the interior design. Moreover, if the style of the exterior can still be guessed, then the interior is likely to be completely new. Perhaps the interior of the Niva Travel will be about the same as that of the new Iskra, an inexpensive sedan, the prototype of which has already been tested on the road.
The important thing is that AvtoVAZ will revise the technical part of the future SUV. Perhaps, in order to keep the price of the car, Niva will retain the current 1.7-liter naturally aspirated engine, combined with a manual transmission. But optionally with an SUV, they will definitely offer a more powerful engine. It is possible that a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter engine, which until recently was used on Vesta, will appear in top trim levels.
Under this engine, AvtoVAZ engineers will rework the suspension and transmission of the SUV. At the same time, the car must retain the previous four-wheel drive. It is possible that the latter will also be partially finalized. The new Lada Niva Travel NG 2024 will go on sale in about two years.
