Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 Film Production Suspended in Support of Actors’ Strike

Brad Pitt has suspended the production of his next feature film on Formula 1 to support the strike of American actors and screenwriters.

Production on Joseph Kosinski’s Formula 1 film (‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Tron Legacy’) has been put on hold as lead actor Brad Pitt wants to ‘really stand up’ alongside his colleagues members of the actors’ union currently on strike, the PA news agency reported over the weekend.

Brad Pitt had recently shot scenes for the project, including at the Silverstone circuit ahead of the British Grand Prix earlier this month.

A movie for Apple TV+

Co-produced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and made for Apple in conjunction with the F1 Federation, this currently untitled Apple TV+ film follows a driver coming out of retirement to compete alongside a rookie, played by Damson Idris , for the fictitious team APXGP which is at the bottom of the ranking.

The next scheduled dates for filming are in November in Las Vegas, by which time those involved in the Hollywood strikes hope to have broken the deadlock.

The film joins a string of productions that came to a halt following the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (Sag-Aftra) – announced a strike on July 13.

The actors’ strike came following the union failed to reach an agreement on a number of issues, including pay and the use of artificial intelligence, with the Alliance of Film and Television Producers. television, which represents major movie studios, television networks and streaming giants.
