The East Ogan Komering Ulu Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said that the level of extreme poverty in the area was already at 0%. This is an improvement from the previous achievement, namely 0.6%.
Meanwhile, for economic growth, OKU Timur experienced a slight decrease from 5.44% in 2022 to 5.05% in 2023.
“Nevertheless, it is still in the good or satisfactory category,” said Head of BPS OKU Timur Budiriyanto in a written statement, Thursday (14/3).
Then, in terms of inflation, BPS recorded a figure of 1.63%. Considering that East OKI is an agricultural center, Budiriyanto said this figure was relatively good.
Responding to the release of this performance, the Regent of East OKU Lanosin admitted that he was very grateful, especially regarding the level of extreme poverty which is already at the 0% level. In the future, what must be considered is how to maintain people’s purchasing power amidst rising food prices.
“Currently the main issue is inflation, prices of basic commodities are extraordinarily high. “That is what we must pay attention to apart from reducing poverty rates, reducing unemployment rates, and infrastructure development,” said Lanosin. (RO/Z-11)
