Bpost hires a detective and finds nearly 6,000 stolen goods in a warehouse in Flanders

The local police arrested last November a thief who was regarding to enter a bpost depot in Dendermonde. The postal company had called in a private detective following noting suspicious actions. The search eventually led to a warehouse where some 6,000 stolen goods worth around 200,000 euros were found.
The local police did not provide any information whatsoever on the place of storage or on the perpetrators, in the interest of the ongoing judicial investigation.

“These were repeated thefts, each time of a small number of packages”explains bpost, speaking of flights “well organised”. As soon as we learned which places were affected by the thefts, those responsible were found. They were quickly apprehended thanks to the work of our detectives.”

The objects found do not all relate to stolen postal parcels but come from various thefts. The local police are currently dealing with the restitution of the stolen goods to the rightful owners. Around forty new computers were returned to a secondary school in Antwerp.
