To offer French individuals the possibility of supporting non-listed French companies by investing between 3,000 and 50,000 euros. Unprecedented and open to the widest possible audience, the Bpifrance Entreprises 2 Fund is launched this Wednesday, February 16. This is the second stage of a rocket that took off at the end of 2020 with the Entreprises 1 fund. Always very easy to access, via your bank or directly on the 123IM online platform in a few clicks, the fund lowers its entry ticket compared to its predecessor, where it was set at 5,000 euros.
Bpifrance presents it as a “private equity product open to the general public”. Its managing director, Nicolas Dufourcq, explains why: “You can invest only a few thousand euros, whereas the usual entry ticket is 100,000 or 150,000 euros. There, you are considered an investor absolutely like the others. We allow you to invest in a SICAV of 1,500 of our hand-picked companies, start-ups and SMEs. It is a mirror fund of a large part of the unlisted French economy. »
“For 3,000 euros, you invest in 1,500 companies, i.e. 2 euros for each”
The launch of Fonds Bpifrance Entreprises 1 proved to be a success: 4,000 people, the majority of whom were trying out this type of investment for the first time, bought the product, all within shorter timeframes than those imagined. initially and very often directly via the website. Its entry ceiling was set at 95,000 euros.
As always in this type of operation where the return is not guaranteed, the risk exists, but it is diluted given the nature of the product. “For 3,000 euros, you invest in 1,500 companies, i.e. 2 euros for each”, we still explain at Bpifrance, which adds that “on each board of directors there is a person from us or our partner funds that monitor the production of performances”. Once placed, the sums invested are blocked for at least six years.
If the Bpifrance Entreprises 2 Fund takes the same path as its predecessor, other operations of the same type should follow each year promises the public business investment bank.
