THE GOVERNMENT through the People’s Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting low-income communities (MBR) to have habitable homes.

As of July 31, 2024, BP Tapera has distributed housing financing worth IDR 142.11 trillion for 1,522,035 housing units throughout Indonesia, an achievement that is an important milestone in the history of national housing financing.

This financing is divided into two main schemes: distribution of Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) funds covering 1,508,298 housing units worth IDR 140.016 trillion, and Tapera Financing which has been running since 2021 until July 31, 2024 with a total of 13,737 housing units worth IDR 2.10 trillion.

As an institution that is entrusted with the task of collecting and providing long-term low-cost funds, BP Tapera plays an important role in meeting the need for decent and affordable housing for the community.

This role is further strengthened by the trust given to BP Tapera as the Government Investment Operator (OIP). #MIA (RO/Z-10)

Challenges and Efforts

Despite many positive achievements, BP Tapera continues to strive to face major challenges in meeting national housing needs.

BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho, mentioned several main challenges, such as the backlog of home ownership which has reached 6.9 million households, and the inequality of access and purchasing power of the community.

To answer this challenge, BP Tapera cannot work alone.

Government support through the APBN, banking, and housing developers is essential.

The FLPP program, which has been running since 2010 to 2024, is estimated to have reduced backlog MBR houses by 7.5%, with a contribution in 2024 expected to be able to reduce backlog up to 1.3%.

BP Tapera also seeks to increase the availability of funds and expand access to financing, especially for informal communities, by managing long-term savings-based funds.

This is expected to replace the role of the APBN and overcome the problem of funding mismatch in housing financing.

With various efforts made, BP Tapera is committed to continuing to fight for this noble mandate, so that the Indonesian people, especially MBR, can have affordable, habitable homes.

With the support of all parties, it is hoped that this effort can run effectively and provide a significant impact on meeting national housing needs. (Z-10)
