“Have we men no one here to ask and tell?” #BoycottAliaBhatt hashtags are flooding Twitter once morest Alia
After Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s call to boycott ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’, several Twitter users have now turned once morest Alia Bhatt. Tweets calling for boycott of Alia Bhatt and ‘Darlings’ are everywhere.
Darlings was released on the OTT platform Netflix last night. But a day before that, boycott tweets once morest the film and Alia started appearing.
The main allegation is that Alia Darlings promotes domestic violence once morest men. Alia plays Badrunissa who is a bit mysterious in the film. The boycott calls once morest ‘Darlings’ are being raised in the backdrop of certain scenes in the film where Alia’s character tortures her husband.
In one scene, Alia is seen slapping actor Vijay, who plays Hamza Sheikh. Boycott tweets have been popping up on Twitter, sharing several sequences of Hamza being tied up and assaulted.
“Everyone should boycott Alia Bhatt for making a misandrist film like Darlings. For Bollywood, domestic violence once morest men is a joke. Pity!” Someone’s tweet said.
“Why Domestic Violence Against Men Is Normalized and Worse Ridiculed. 3.4 crore men in India face domestic violence. This is unacceptable,” notes another Twitter user.
‘Darlings’ tells the story of a mother and daughter trying to find their place in Mumbai. Alia plays a character in the film who fights once morest all odds and bravely moves forward in extraordinary situations.
“Darlings is a film that holds a very special place in my heart. This is my first film as a producer, with Red Chillies. We are proud and happy that the film has come to fruition and we hope that Darlingza will entertain audiences across the globe,” said Alia regarding the film.
