A mom got the surprise of her life, learning that her 10-year-old son Max had sent an invitation to all his classmates for a New Year’s Eve party at his residence, without her knowledge.
Diane Campbell, 50, who lives in Bolton, UK, explained on social media that she found out regarding the event when one of her friends and mother of a colleague of Max sent her a message confirming attendance at the party.
“Which party?” she asked. Immediately, the woman sent him a photo of the invitation in the handwriting of the witty little one. The party would be held at his residence, on July 25, at 4:00 p.m.
Max explained that he had found the invitations in a box from a previous party and filled them out without her knowing.
“He said he wanted an end-of-year party because the sixth year had one to go from elementary to high school and they didn’t.” the woman indicated.
He added that fortunately he found out a week before and that he had time to let the children and families know that the party would not take place.
“I had to create a status on Facebook asking people to contact me because I had no idea how many invitations I had given out. It’s a big school and there are parents I don’t know or haven’t spoken to,” Diane told the British newspaper.

“No one showed up, thanks to Facebook, though neighbors and friends joked that they were coming to the party with wine and beer.”, he added.
“I am grateful that we have Facebook, otherwise I would have had 31 children on my doorstep on Monday!”
