Boy dies after sword attack in east London

A 14-year-old boy was killed and four other people were injured on Tuesday following a man attacked several people with a sword near a tube station in the Hainault area of ​​east London, police said.

According to EFE, of the four injured, two are police officers who are hospitalized and had to undergo surgery. Their lives are not in danger, while the other two people are also hospitalized but not in serious condition.

A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred early today (around 06:00 GMT), but British law enforcement officials have stressed that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack and that it is not of a terrorist nature.

Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell told reporters that officers and emergency services were deployed to deal with a number of victims in Hainault.

The 14-year-old boy “was taken to hospital following being stabbed and sadly died shortly followingwards. The boy’s family is supported, first, by my local officers and now by some specialist officers,” he explained.

A video taken by a citizen and broadcast by British media shows the alleged perpetrator of the attack, a bearded man wearing an ochre hooded sweatshirt.

The images showed the individual walking with a large sword (Japanese katana style) in his hand.
