THE boxing match between former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and YouTuber Jake Paul on July 20 in Dallas will certainly be an official match. This was announced by both boxers and promoters, Tuesday (30/4) WIB.

The match will last for eight rounds, each lasting 2 minutes, which will be recorded in the match record for Paul and Tyson, who lost their last match in 2005.

Tyson, who has a win-loss record of 50-6 with 44 knockout wins, has not won since beating Clifford Etienne in 2003.

Previously, there were concerns regarding making the match an official match rather than an exhibition due to the age difference between the two boxers. Paul is 27 years old while Tyson will be 58 years old on June 30.

“Mike Tyson wants this fight to be an official fight. Netflix wants this fight to be an official fight. So, I agree with this fight being an official fight,” Paul tweeted at X.

The boxing match between Tyson and Paul will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the NFL team the Dallas Cowboys.

“Mike Tyson and Jake Paul have agreed to fight in an official match,” said the founder of Most Valuable Promotions, Naiksa Bidarian at X.

Tyson won his first world heavyweight boxing title in 1986 and became true champion in 1987, 10 years before Paul was born.

After losing surprisingly to Buster Douglas in Tokyo in 1990, Tyson made a comeback in 1996 to become world champion once more before losing to Evander Hollyfield.

Tyson lost to British boxer Lennox Lewis in 2002 in his last world title fight.

He then beat Etienne in 2003 before losing to Danny Williams in 2004 and Kevin McBride in 2005, when he announced his retirement from boxing.

Meanwhile, Paul has a win-loss record of 9-1, his last win was last month in Puerto Rico from Ryan Bourland in the first round.
