Kim Clavel is ready. Ready for her “big moment” that will change the course of her career and her life.
“It’s 20 minutes of work that can change the rest of my life,” said the Quebec boxer on Wednesday, more than confident two days before her World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight world championship fight at Casino de Montreal against Mexican champion Yesenia Gomez.
Clavel (15-0, 3 KOs) is the No. 1 contender for the 108-pound title held by Gomez (19-5-3, 6 KOs), who will try to defend her belt successfully for a fifth time.

This clash between the two boxers had to be postponed three times. The fight was originally scheduled to be held on December 17, but an injury to Clavel prevented the 31-year-old boxer from stepping into the ring. In March, Gomez needed more time so the fight was moved to April. This time, Clavel contracted COVID-19 and had to withdraw.
For Gomez, this will be his first fight outside of Mexico.

Two other women’s fights will also be presented during this Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) gala. Welterweight Marie-Pier Houle (6-0-1, 2 KOs) will face Brazilian Halanna Dos Santos (14-9, 9 KOs), while Caroline Veyre will make her professional debut against Mexican super featherweight Wendy Cruz Castro (0-2).
