“It’s 20 minutes of work that can change the rest of my life,” said the Quebec boxer on Wednesday, more than confident two days before her World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight world championship fight at Casino de Montreal against Mexican champion Yesenia Gomez.

Clavel (15-0, 3 KOs) is the No. 1 contender for the 108-pound title held by Gomez (19-5-3, 6 KOs), who will try to defend her belt successfully for a fifth time.

“This preparation was very special, I feel it in my muscles, added Clavel at the start of the press conference setting the stage for the event presented by Groupe Yvon Michel. My sparrings have been well. I’m fit, I’m top-shape. You know, I realize that what will happen on July 29 is the most important moment of my career, so far, because there will be others after. Definitely. »

“Kim Clavel, it’s a Formula 1, it’s a Ferrari, pictured her trainer Danielle Bouchard, by way of introduction. This clash between the two boxers had to be postponed three times. In March, Gomez needed more time so the fight was moved to April. This time, Clavel contracted COVID-19 and had to withdraw.

For Gomez, this will be his first fight outside of Mexico.

“Yes, it’s going to be a bit complicated,” she admitted. “But I worked hard to succeed. »
