The Mars factory in Veghel, Brabant, has insufficient production capacity to make enough Bounty bars. This has resulted in empty shelves in some shops and supermarkets, including outside the Netherlands. This is due to the disappearance of Russian factories.
“It is true that we are faced with challenges in providing Dutch consumers with Bounty’s,” a Mars spokesperson said. “This is not something from the last few weeks, nor is it limited to the Netherlands.”
Shortly following the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukraine, Mars halted deliveries of products from Russian factories to other markets. According to the company, the factory in Veghel in particular should absorb this.
“Many more countries are now supplied from the Netherlands,” Mars said in a statement. “The production lines are running at maximum capacity. Nevertheless, there is insufficient output to meet all demand, which we deeply regret.”
Mars is working on a solution, but says it will take time. “We expect the situation to gradually improve,” the company said.
Supermarket group Albert Heijn agrees that there are “challenges” with the deliveries of Bounty bars. According to a spokesperson, this does not apply online and at AH to go.
