Over 2,100m2 of climbing space in the new boulder bar. New routes are screwed weekly.
Linz – Finally the time has come. After almost 2 years of construction, the first boulder bar has opened in Linz. You can boulder on several levels with a wall height of max. 4.5m. Almost 2000m2 are currently available. A spacious outdoor area with 410m2 will also be opened in spring.
There is a cozy bar area for relaxation following sport, which can also be used as an event location in the evenings.
Bouldering is like rock climbing, only easier
Essentially, bouldering is climbing without a rope. The walls are a maximum of 4.5m high and the halls have soft floors. A safe jump is possible at any time. You don’t need a partner or expensive equipment to practice. All you need is comfortable clothing and climbing shoes (which you can rent cheaply).
What makes the boulder bar special
„In addition to the regular climbing area, we also offer kilterboards, moonboards and campusboards for training. And there are areas for yoga, calisthenics, and strength training. For children we have lower climbing areas where there is plenty of fun to play
“, enthuses Michael Zöchling, managing director of the boulderbar Linz.
And all of this can now be tried out!

MON – FRI: 09:00 – 23:00
SAT, SUN, public holidays: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m
The bouldering bar is available to professionals and beginners
A separate children’s area aims to introduce the youngsters to the sport in a playful way.
„Children benefit enormously from bouldering. Concentration, coordination and self-confidence are promoted
“, explains Michael Zoechling. He knows what he’s talking regarding, following all his two children have already tested the system.
Architecture & Hotels
Drivers on the B139 and visitors to PlusCity have probably already noticed the new building. Spectacular and reduced at the same time, the architecture impresses with an intelligent interplay of aesthetics and function.
„It was a huge task to pull off this project and there were always delays. We are very happy to be able to open now
“, says Michael Zöchling. However, he will not have any free time in the near future. The attached boulder bar hotel will open in late summer 2023. A 4* business hotel, up to date – for bouldering and business nomads. Until then, the boulderbar will live up to its name and establish itself as a new location. Sport, exchange, music and refreshing drinks come together here.

In 2012 the enthusiastic boulderers Bernhard Kerschbaumer, Tzvetomir Bonev, Lukas Küster and Claus Candido turned their hobby into a profession and founded the boulderbar GmbH in Vienna’s Leopoldstadt. They were the first to bring this trend sport to the capital. Branches followed in Salzburg (2016), on Wienerberg (2017), near Vienna Central Station (2020) and in Seestadt Aspern (2021). The youngest boulder bar in Linz Leonding opened in February 2023. Another branch is planned for next year in St. Pölten. More than 100 employees are currently working in the 6 locations.
