Bou Habib: It is important for the Americans to elect a president in Lebanon | Policy

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, confirmed that “the Americans have expressed great fear of the presidential vacuum in Lebanon.”

He said, in an interview on Al-Jadeed TV, that “failing to elect a new president will negatively affect Lebanon’s interest and regional security.”

He pointed out that “there was an emphasis on the need for the parliament in Lebanon to elect a president of the republic as soon as possible.”

Bou Habib concluded: “There is no American veto on any presidential candidate, and they do not support anyone either, and what is important for them is to elect a president.”
