After twelve years of waiting, the Celtics are back in the NBA Finals. Guided by Jayson Tatum, they won Game 7 of their Eastern Conference final in Miami (100-96), despite Jimmy Butler, on the night of Sunday to Monday. Finally, Draymond Green, who had said it a little too soon, was right. Boston will be well opposed from Thursday to Golden State to try to win a record eighteenth title (in 22 finals) and to regain the lead at the top of the charts lines on the Lakers, who had joined them in 2020 following their coronation at the expense of the Heat. This will only be the second meeting at this point between these two iconic NBA franchises. In 1964, at the height of their hegemony, marked by nine titles in a row, the Celtics had notably taken the best of the San Francisco Warriors, once morest the backdrop of one of the greatest rivalries in history between Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain.
