The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said on Friday that the two athletes are charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction of process, including the use of false documents.
They had undergone in 2021 a control with triamcinolone, a glucocorticoid still authorized in certain forms in 2021, before being totally prohibited since January in competition. The test had turned out positive.
Diana Chemtai Kipyokei, 28, won the Boston Marathon in October 2021, one of the six major marathons on the world circuit. It was at the end of this race that she was checked with triamcinolone.
Betty Wilson Lempus, 31, had won the Paris half-marathon in September 2021.
The two suspensions come three days following that of their compatriot Mark Kangogo, also subject to a control with triamcinolone.
Kenya is hit by a big wave of doping cases. Kipyokei and Lempus are the 22nd and 23rd athletes from Kenya to be suspended in 2022.
In July, Kenyan Lawrence Cherono was suspended for a doping offense and was expelled from the World Championships.
Kenya has been ranked Category A on the World Athletics and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Watch List since 2016.
