All teams played this Sunday on the last day of the NBA regular season, and Boston, winner in Memphis, doubled Milwaukee, beaten in Cleveland, to finish second in the Eastern Conference.
The 2021-22 NBA regular season is over! The fifteen teams played this Sunday, and there was ultimately quite little at stake since we already knew all the qualified for the play-offs and the play-in. But one team pulled out of the game by gaining a place: Boston. The Celtics, authors of a very average start to the season, took second place behind Miami, after their 110-139 victory in Memphis (31pts for Jayson Tatum) combined with the defeat of Milwaukee in Cleveland (133-115, with 32 points from Kevin Love). The Celtics will therefore be opposed to the winner of the play-in which will oppose Brooklyn (7th) to Cleveland (8th). A game that no one expected at the start of the season as the Nets seemed favorites for the top of the standings and the Cavaliers for the bottom… Brooklyn ended its regular season with a 134-126 success over Indiana (35pts) for Kyrie Irving . The other play-in will oppose Atlanta (9th), winner 114-130 to Houston on Sunday (28pts for Trae Young), to Charlotte (10th), who beat Washington (124-108, 25pts from Terry Rozier) to finish. Recall that the winner of this match and the loser of Brooklyn-Cleveland will face each other, and the winner will be proud of the first of the regular season, Miami, beaten 125-111 in Orlando in a Florida derby without stake, despite Victor Oladipo’s 40 points. The defending champion, Milwaukee, will face in the first round of the play-offs Chicago, a leading time but ultimately sixth, and who won 120-124 in Minnesota on Sunday (35pts for Patrick Williams). Finally, the tightest meeting on paper will oppose Philadelphia (4th, and winner 118-106 of Detroit without Joel Embiid, who finished top scorer of the regular season) in Toronto (5th, and beaten 105-94 in New York, the fault in particular with the 42 points of Obi Toppin), but without Matisse Thybulle for the matches in Canada, because the back of the 76ers is not vaccinated against the coronavirus.
