The Boston Celtics taunted Russell Westbrook following eminently defeating the Los Angeles Lakers.
After the 130-108 win at the TD Garden, ex-Laker Dennis Schröder was there NBC Sports Boston Alex Reed in an interview. While the German gave a few words regarding the game, the sentence “Y’all paying Russ $44 million lol” appeared in the lower third next to his namein German as much as “You really pay Russ (Westbrook) 44 million dollars lol”.
In the summer, LA opted to trade Westbrook and not make a new offer to Schröder following the latter turned down 84 million over 4 years during the season. At the Lakers, Westbrook is supposed to form a new Big Three together with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but currently falls well short of expectations.
His odds are still below his career averages (42.8 percent from the field, 30 percent from downtown, 68.8 percent from the free-throw line), his defense is also sometimes dizzying and in the minutes without LeBron he can’t manage the offensive of the to wear Lakers.
NBA: Schroeder getting better for Boston
Westbrook also remained pale for a long time once morest Boston, scoring only 12 points (5/13 FG) and taking some wild three-pointers early in the shotclock. Schröder, on the other hand, is finding his way around Boston better and has been allowed to start since Jaylen Brown’s injury.
He repays that trust, putting up 17 points and 5 assists at 44 percent from the field and 32 percent from outside throughout the season. Against the Lakers, too, he was the third-best pitcher following Jayson Tatum (37) and Marcus Smart (22) with 21 points and 6 rebounds, and with his lightning-fast drives the Lakers defense was unstoppable.
Westbrook has two more years and a total of 91 million under contract with the Lakers, earning 44 million this season alone. Schröder, on the other hand, signed with the Celtics for 5.9 million and only one year.
