A group of investors led by Boston Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca has reached an agreement to buy a 55% stake in a vehicle that controls Italian Serie A soccer club Atalanta.
The Percassi family owns a 45% stake in La Dea, the holding company that owns around 86% of Atalanta.

Pagliuca, who is co-chairman of investment fund Bain Capital and co-owner of the Celtics with Wyc Grousbeck and Boston Basketball Partners, LLC, said in a declaration“We are delighted to partner with the Percassi family and support the future development of the club.
“We believe the Percassi family has built a very solid foundation on which to work together to strengthen the brand globally, with the aim of encouraging greater diversification and revenue growth, enabling the club to become more increasingly competitive on the Italian and international scene. . »
The Percassi family remains the largest shareholder and governance of the club would be an equal partnership with Antonio and Luca Percassi retaining the roles of chairman and chief executive, and Pagliuca appointed co-chairman.
The partnership aims to extend the club’s brand awareness beyond European borders.
