Interviewed by Sky News, billionaire Steve Pagliuca, who is notably co-owner of the Boston Celtic NBA franchise, has revealed his interest in buying Chelsea. The businessman is also part of a group of investors who own the majority of shares in Atalanta Bergamo in Italy. He should soon make public commitments concerning the future of Chelsea by declaring in particular that he “will continue to cherish and preserve the club’s heritage and traditions”.
“Throughout my life and career, my philosophy has always been to operate quietly, with integrity, and let my actions and results speak loud and clear. However, it is imperative to clarify and assure supporters regarding our bid group and their commitments, to underline how seriously we take our potential liability to Chelsea. Our first objective is to make strategic investments to continue to compete for championships and trophies. Additionally, we will continue to invest in the youth academy to develop the stars of the future and we wouldn’t be in this process if we didn’t have an exciting and inclusive vision for Chelsea.”, explained Pagliuca who will submit his candidacy on Thursday before the deadline for submission. Chelsea will face Real Madrid this Tuesday evening in the Champions League quarter-final second leg (9 p.m.).
