An NBA legend is gone. Five times MVP of the NBA regular season, 12 times selected for the All Star Game but above all winner of 11 titles with the Boston Celtics between 1957 and 1969, Bill Russell died on Sunday at the age of 88, announced his family on Twitter.
Considered one of the best pivots in history, he is with Wilt Chamberlain, one of his biggest rivals, one of the few to have accumulated more than 50 rebounds in the same meeting. During his immense career, Russell also won the Olympic gold medal with the United States in 1956. In an honorary way, the trophy for the best player in the NBA Finals even bears his name since 2009.
