+++ Update: October 11th 10:44 p.m. – Germany wins in Bosnia +++
The German national soccer team is only missing one win to reach the quarter-finals of the Nations League. National coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team defeated Bosnia 2-1 (2-0) in Zenica on Friday evening.
Against the Netherlands on Monday in Munich, the DFB team can make it into the knockout round.
Deniz Undav scored twice for Germany in the small Bilino Polje stadium (30th, 36th). Edin Dzeko (70th) scored the goal for coach Sergej Barbarez’s Bosnian team.
+++ Update: October 11th 9:35 p.m. – DFB team leads at halftime +++
The DFB team goes into the half-time break with a 2-0 lead in their guest game in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The hosts started the game well and very actively. For a long time, the Germans had a hard time defending themselves against the dragons and needed a long time before the offensive came into play. A brilliant idea came from Robert Andrich, who found Wirtz in the box after half an hour with a great pass. He in turn served Undav perfectly, making it 1-0.
The Bosnians were shocked and shortly afterwards even conceded the 2-0, which was, however, taken back because Kleindienst was just offside. A few minutes later, Undav did better and raised. However, Demirović’s crossbar hit in the 35th minute showed that the home team can be dangerous.
+++ Update: October 11th 7:35 p.m. – The lineup is here +++
Julian Nagelsmann sends two debutants onto the field from the start in the Nations League game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. As announced, the national coach has Alexander Nübel from VfB Stuttgart playing in goal in Zenica and is also using Gladbach striker Tim Kleindienst for the first time.
Nagelsmann is missing seven professionals due to injuries. At least he can rely on defense chief Antonio Rüdiger before Nübel, who was rested against Hungary (5-0) and the Netherlands (2-2) in September.
The professional from Champions League winner Real Madrid defends in the center with Jonathan Tah, the duo is flanked by captain Joshua Kimmich and Maximilian Mittelstädt. As usual since the European Championships, Pascal Groß and Robert Andrich are on the six.
Returning Serge Gnabry is needed on the right wing after a year out due to the absences of Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala. Florian Wirtz plays on the left, Deniz Undav in the middle as a hanging leader, Kleindienst in the front.
The German lineup: Nübel – Kimmich, Rüdiger, Tah, Mittelstädt – Andrich, Groß – Wirtz, Undav, Gnabry – Kleindienst.

The DFB team will continue in the UEFA Nations League in October 2024.
After the previous two games, from which Germany was able to get four points, national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team leads the table in Group 3 ahead of the Netherlands, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Hungary.
On Friday evening, Germany will face Bosnia-Herzegovina away in Zenica.
Before the game, Nagelsmann had to accept one or two setbacks, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who was recently chosen as the new number 1, being out for months due to a serious injury.
In addition to Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel, Nagelsmann has now nominated keeper Janis Blaswich for the two upcoming Nations League games in Bosnia and against the Netherlands. The veteran is currently on loan from RB Leipzig to sister club Red Bull Salzburg.
Nagelsmann also had to cancel a few other players, such as left-back David Raum, who is now being replaced by Robin Gosens who is celebrating a DFB comeback.
On the Bosnian side, an old friend from the Bundesliga is waiting for the duel with Germany. The Bosnian national team is coached by former HSV crowd favorite Sergej Barbarez.
