Bose announced, on Thursday (15), the launch of a new pair of wireless headphones that promise to combine immersive experiences with good comfort. The Ultra Open, as it is called, has a distinct look that resembles a pair of earrings which, according to the manufacturer, guarantees greater adherence to the user’s ear.

The headphones have a variety of advanced features that aim to deliver greater immersion when playing media via Bluetooth 5.3. One of the highlights is the Bose Immersive Audio, a technology that simulates spatial audio to create the feeling that the music is being played in the room itself.

The U-shaped body allows the speakers to fire audio directly into the ear, while the support rod is attached to the outside of the ear. The devices have an IPX4 degree of protection, which attests to their resistance to splashing water.

Bose highlights the privacy offered by the headphones, which have a controlled acoustic structure to ensure minimal leakage, so that the sound is heard only by the user. Furthermore, thanks to their innovative design, the accessories allow the user to listen to their favorite music without losing concentration on the environment.

The dots are powered by Snapdragon Sound, Qualcomm’s suite of hardware and software technologies that includes the latest version of the aptX Adaptive codec, which supports lossless audio with low latency.

One of the smart features is Auto Volume which, as its name suggests, automatically adjusts the volume level based on ambient noise. Headphone settings can be controlled through the Bose Music app.

The headphones deliver up to 7.5 hours of continuous music playback (without Bose Immersive Audio). When enabling spatial sound technology, the estimated battery life is 4.5 hours. The charging case can provide up to an additional 19.5 hours of playback. With just 10 minutes of recharging, the accessories guarantee around 2 hours of playback.

Price and availability

The Bose Ultra Open is available on the brand’s official website for US$299 (about R$1,480) in the United States. The headphones are also available on the European market. There are two color options: black and white with silver details. For now, there is no forecast for launch in other regions.
