Bose launches new QuietComfort Ultra headphones with Spatial Audio feature

A Bose today launched three new headphones from its renowned line QuietComfort. Two of them are family QuietComfort Ultra (Headphones e Earbuds), while the third only has the name of QuietComfort Headphones, without numbers referring to the model. The main highlight of the first two is the new Immersive Audiosimilar to the Spatial Audio of AirPods Pro and Max.

The great thing regarding Bose’s feature is that it is not dependent on the existence of content made and compatible with spatial audio. The novelty works through virtualization, combining internal components and a new digital signal processing.

There are two modes of use, one for when you are still and the other when moving, with sensors to detect movement and analyze the shape of the head to optimize reproduction.

Immersive Audio, as expected, has an impact on the headphones’ battery. In the case of Headphones, the promised autonomy is 24 hours without the resource turned on and 6 p.m with the function activated. In the case of Earbuds, they are 6h e 4hrespectively, even with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) activated.

The Ultra models also feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound chips, made for headphones and providing audio compatibility. Losslesshigher fidelity and lower latency.

The ANC — one of the main brands of Bose headphones — also received improvements, with better microphones (five in each capsule). As a result, call quality has improved, especially in the larger model, which can now capture your voice in up to 360 degrees in any environment, separating it from noise — in addition to having the feature ActiveSensewhich intelligently monitors the noises around you.

Another point where there were changes in relation to previous models (Headphones 700, QC Earbuds II and QC 45 Headphones) was the design, especially in the Ultra Headphones model. In addition to now having more metal parts and becoming, in general, more comfortable, the upper band that fixes the headset to the head now allows the device to be folded, something very useful for storing it.

The volume controls have also been modified in the more robust Ultra model, and there is now a sliding touch-sensitive area, with a relief at the bottom of the left capsule — where there is also a multifunctional physical button. In the case of Earbuds, the rubbers gained greater fixation capacity.

The Ultra models also have a Bluetooth 5.3 connection Low Energy, as well as an audio input and a USB-C connector for recharging, which cannot be used for audio. The Earbuds case included in the box is not compatible with wireless charging, but you can purchase another case that can be recharged this way and is also compatible with the QC Earbuds II.

Both the Ultra Headphones and Earbuds models are available in black and white. In-ear headphones cost US$300 and the biggest, US$430. A Bose pre-sales are already taking place of accessories, which will begin shipping in October.

Finally, a new version of the company’s traditional headphones was launched, called QuietComfort Headphones, which features the design of previous models. In this case, the new features present in other models, such as Immersive Audio, were not included — although it is possible to select noise cancellation levels and not just activate or deactivate it.

Battery life is up to 24 hours and, like the Ultra models, the simplest version supports the feature SimpleSync, which allows you to pair it with other Bose products. The cheapest model also has a green color option, in addition to black and white. It costs US$350 and is also on pre-sale, although it should be shipped from the day September 21st.
