We are deeply moved by the news of the death of Jerzy Franciszek Michalak, a set designer, director and actor with family and emotional ties to Chorzów. Anecdotally, he himself said that he was close to being born on the stage of the Reduta Śląska Theatre, which was co-founded by his parents. Years later, he supported the reactivation of the legendary Chorzów group, designing the set and costumes for the play ”The Tragedy of the Beautiful Ulijanka and the Mature Edmund”, which reopened the history of the Reduta Śląska. He also supported other creative groups and initiatives of the Chorzów Culture Centre, cooperating with, among others, the Light Portable Theatre. In 2018, he was honoured at the ChCK with a jubilee exhibition
