Borussia Dortmund: Record turnover of 509.1 million euros in 2023/24

Borussia Dortmund, the runner-up in the last Champions League, announced on Friday the highest annual turnover in its history, with 509.1 million euros generated last season.

This amount, which does not take into account transfer fees, is up 24% compared to the previous season, despite a disappointing fifth place in the Bundesliga.

This is mainly explained by Dortmund’s surprising performance in the Champions League, where they lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in the final.

The increase in TV rights and the sale of derivative products also contributed to this record turnover.

“This is my 20th annual press conference and it is certainly one of the most satisfying,” said club boss Hans-Joachim Watzke on Friday during the annual presentation of financial results.

The Ruhr club’s actual revenue is likely to be higher; Dortmund sold England midfielder Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid for €103 million during the period under review.

Dortmund is the only team playing in the German top division to be listed on the stock exchange.
