Terzic gives hope to the BVB star

This is how BVB works on the top game embarrassment

After the defeat at Bayern, Borussia Dortmund has no time to take a deep breath. On Wednesday evening, BVB has to play in the cup at RB Leipzig. SPORT1 has the press conference with Edin Terzic to read.

After 2: 4 bankruptcy on Saturday at FC Bayern and the loss of Bundesliga table lead the next trend-setting game is on the agenda for Borussia Dortmund.

On Wednesday evening, BVB is in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup at defending champions RB Leipzig (from 8.45 p.m. in the LIVETICKER) required.

Before the cup match in Leipzig, Terzic answered journalists’ questions SPORTS1 has the press conference to read.

+++ Terzic regarding Kobel and his mistake in Munich +++

“Greg has been one of our most consistent players this season and is arguably one of the best goalkeepers in European football. We know Greg takes responsibility for this, but he’ll shrug it off. We’re not worried at all.”

+++ Terzic regarding Adeyemi following his injury +++

“We spoke to him before the Bayern game and he said he was only ready for 20-25 minutes. He has made a good impression in the last training sessions. He was full of euphoria.”

+++ Terzic regarding disappointment following Bayern bankruptcy +++

“We still found this disappointment on Sunday morning, up to our meeting, but we want to look ahead. Now the desire to play in the cup is great. We’re going up once morest the defending champions, we want to prepare as best we can. It’s the shortest way to a title for us, and it’s the same for the other Bundesliga teams. It was always important for us, unfortunately we didn’t win the cup as often as we had hoped, but we want to improve on this statistic.”

+++ Terzic on the failure of Schlotterbeck +++

“I feel sorry for every player who is out, especially when it comes to the decisive phase of the season. I think Nico has arrived very well with us in the summer and has constantly improved. He’s one of our most dangerous goalscorers. He’s always dangerous in set pieces. But every player in the squad is important. Losing Nico gives other players a chance. We have Mats Hummels, who hasn’t been entirely happy in recent weeks, often not having started on the pitch, and then we have Emre Can, someone who has repeatedly played in this position in central defense in preparation. We have the ability to change the system. We’ll find the right solution.”

+++ Terzic on the fans and the DFB Cup +++

“I have to commend the euphoria and volume with which the fans in Munich accompanied us from the first to the last minute, although it was not easy for them to experience a game like this in Munich. But we have to stay positive, there is no reason, absolutely no reason, to be negative or pessimistic regarding the next tasks. We are still one of the strongest teams not only in the Bundesliga but also in Europe. We’ve just experienced our first defeat in the Bundesliga and we’ll be fighting for a place in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup tomorrow, once morest a really good opponent. In the past few weeks, you’ve experienced some results that you didn’t expect to get. It is probably the only chance for Leipzig to win a title this year. they will make it their goal to move into the semi-finals as defending champions. We know what we have to do to win the game tomorrow.”

+++ Terzic regarding the mistake in the Bayern game +++

“We have to blame ourselves for not staying with us following the good start in Munich and the good weeks we have had recently, when we did a lot of things well. We have to learn from that, we have to stop it. Of course we want to play football together, but the most important thing is that we play football for each other. It only works if we try to do it as a unit in all phases of the game when we want to win the ball as well as when we want to score with the ball. To be honest, that didn’t work out well between the first goal we conceded and up until the half-time break.”

+++ Terzic on the processing of the Bayern game +++

“We were disappointed on Saturday night, but we said on Saturday night that we wanted to look ahead. We did that on Sunday, we got together in the morning, had a session and talked regarding a few things. Of course we’re disappointed that we didn’t manage to increase the lead to four points, but that we’re now behind once more. But the fact is: If you want to get something in Munich, you need an almost perfect day. To be honest, we didn’t have that. We had four setbacks, which meant that it wasn’t easy for us. We tried to go into the game boldly and confidently, and we managed to do that in the early stages. It took us too long to recover from that first setback. The opponent felt and smelled that, and with their quality they were able to decide the game within ten minutes. Nevertheless, there are still a few weeks before us when we can make up for a few things, and that’s what the Bundesliga will be regarding now.”

+++ Terzic on the personnel situation +++

“Nico Schlotterbeck will not be available to us in the next few weeks. Karim Adeyemi is out because of his suspension. And also Julien Duranville, he is busy in his rehab, but it will take a few more weeks until he is completely at 100 percent. These are the three players who will definitely fail. Otherwise we hope that Gio Reyna and Thomas Meunier can join once more. There is still a small question mark with Seb Haller, he twisted his knee in Munich, he mightn’t train yesterday, but he already felt better today.”

+++ PK with Terzic +++

Welcome to the Dortmund press conference ahead of the cup quarter-finals at RB Leipzig. From 12 p.m. Terzic will answer questions from the crowd of journalists.

+++ Schlotterbeck is out for a long time +++

The bankruptcy at Bayern wasn’t the only bad news for Edin Terzic’s team: German national defender Nico Schlotterbeck tore a muscle fiber involving a tendon in his left thigh and will probably be out for at least a month.
