Appropriate husbandry and corresponding animal welfare standards are decisive for the quality of turkey meat. These in turn depend largely on the feeding. The AMA seal of approval therefore only provides genetically unmodified feed for feeding, going beyond the legal provisions. The main ingredients are corn, wheat and soy. Depending on the age of the turkeys, the feed is finely ground and enriched with valuable vitamins, trace elements and minerals. To do this, the turkeys pick fine pebbles to support digestion, just as they do in the wild.
Growth promoters in feed are banned throughout the EU, but not worldwide. It is therefore particularly important to pay attention to quality and origin when shopping.
How do you recognize the good AMA turkey? Quite simply: It doesn’t matter what brand is on the label – if the AMA seal of approval is on it, then the good turkey is inside.
