The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy stated that Europe must “speak the language of power”, but also know how to “use the power of language”.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has declared this Sunday during his speech at the Munich Security Conference (Germany) that “Russia and China are the ones who want to return to the 19th century to fight for the empires” that they were before and are becoming more and more “firm, wanting to restore the empires integers who claim to have been in the past”.

“We had to move towards the 21st century, avoiding the mistakes of the 20th century. This is the real perspective of our fight for security and defense,” said Borrell.

“We have to speak the language of power, as I said at the beginning of my term, but keep in mind that we also have to be able to use the power of language, and I think this is what it is regarding the current challenges that we face,” summed up the head of community diplomacy.

Borrell also recalled that the European Union continues to support Ukraine and since 2014 it has allocated 17,000 million euros.

“There is no other country where we spend more money and we have strong ties in all spheres.”

The words of support were followed by a reminder that “there is still a lot of work to be done for Ukraine, because the renovations have not been completed yet“Ukraine works hard, but there is still quite a long way to success,” he added.

While Borrell attributes imperialist intentions to the Kremlin, Russia tries to give support to numerous refugees from Donbass what Huyen from the conflict zone. This Tuesday, President Vladimir Putin described what is happening in the region in the east of Ukraine as “a genocide“, for which he holds Kiev responsible.

Observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) they registered for this Friday in Donbass 1,566 ceasefire violationsincluded 1,413 explosions, and confirmed the death of a civilian in Marinka, in the Donetsk region. They also denounced the restriction of their freedom of movement at two checkpoints of “armed formations” in the Donetsk region.

For his part, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky declared that the destruction caused in Donbass and the projectiles that fell in the Russian province of Rostov, which, according to the Russian authorities, came from the territory of Ukraine, “are provocations, they are pure lies” and that “there are no dead or injured”.

“This is just cynicism,” he said, assuring that “they themselves cause explosions, they are shooting.” “Guns spin and shoot into their own controlled territoryZelensky added. From the Russian Foreign Ministry they reacted to the president’s comments, noting that “only a heartless cynic can make statements of the type that ‘shoot themselves’ regarding the residents of Donbass, taking into account the number of people who have died in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions in recent years”.
