According to Unico Search, a global headhunting company, on the 20th, the results of analyzing the college and major status of 1,371 CEOs of Korea’s top 1,000 companies showed that Seoul National University had the most with 189 (13.8%). The number of people who said they graduated from Yonsei University and Korea University was 113 (8.2%) and 108 (7.9%), respectively.
The number of CEOs from these three places totals 410 (29.9%), an increase of 1 percentage point from last year (28.9%).
The number of CEOs who graduated from SKY University was regarding half (45.6%) at the time of the 2008 survey, but has gradually decreased and has been maintained at the 20% level since 2019.
Following them, Hanyang University (64 people), Pusan National University and Sungkyunkwan University (37 each), Sogang University (36), and Chung-Ang University (34) were counted as having produced more than 30 CEOs.
Outside of the metropolitan area, the place with the most CEOs was Pusan National University (37). This was followed by Yeungnam University (19 people), Kyungpook National University (16 people), and Dong-A University (15 people).
Nearly half of the CEOs had a science or engineering background (45.4%). This figure is 0.5 percentage points higher than last year (44.9%).
However, as a single university department, Seoul National University’s Department of Business Administration accounted for the largest number of students (37). Representative CEOs who graduated from the Business Administration Department at Seoul National University include Kwon Young-soo, Vice Chairman of LG Energy Solutions, Kim Jun, Vice Chairman of SK Innovation, and Kim Yong-beom, Vice Chairman of Meritz Financial Group.
By age, those born between 1960 and 1963 accounted for 24.3% of the total, followed by those born between 1964 and 1966 (17.1%), those born between 1957 and 1959 (12.1%), those born between 1967 and 1969 (11.5%), and those born between 1970 and 1973 (10.4%). It was followed by

The number of MZ generation CEOs born following 1980 was counted at 52 (3.8%), an increase of 0.9 percentage points from last year (2.9%). The youngest CEO among those surveyed is Lim Dong-yeon, CEO of Gaon Group, born in 1997.
