During his visit to Puerto Punta Chungo, President Gabriel Boric emphasizes the importance of public-private collaboration and mutual respect in national development.
In his most recent official activity, President Gabriel Boric made a strong call to the business sectors to abandon what he called “paternalistic arrogance,” during the commissioning of the desalination plant of the Los Pelambres mining company in Puerto Punta Chungo, Los Vilos, Coquimbo Region.
Accompanied by the Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams, of Public Works, Jessica López, and the head of the Treasury, Mario Marcel, the Head of State highlighted the need to strengthen public-private collaboration to promote the economic and social development of the country.
In his speech, Boric pointed out the importance of putting aside prejudices towards companies and evaluating them based on their performance and contribution to the common well-being. Likewise, he urged businessmen to abandon the attitude of “paternalistic arrogance,” which, in his opinion, leads to issuing denigrating judgments toward democratically elected governments.
“We may have many differences in ideological or political matters, but in Chile’s long-term path there are good reasons to be optimistic,” said Boric, underlining the importance of building trust between all actors in society.
The President also highlighted the relevance of projects such as the Los Pelambres desalination plant, emphasizing that these contribute to both the country’s politics and economy. However, he warned that denigrating statements towards democratically elected governments do not contribute to strengthening the trust necessary for national development.
