Boric activates National Reconstruction Fund – La Discusión 2024-02-11 09:15:21

President Gabriel Boric announced the activation of the National Reconstruction Fund, a “specific tool that was created following the 2010 earthquake, in the first term of former President Piñera, and has been an important mechanism to channel and encourage aid and support from the private world every time emergencies of these characteristics shake our country.”

“In addition, it provides tax benefits for donations from companies and individuals in the context of a catastrophe,” he stated in the middle of a visit to Quilpué, one of the areas hardest hit by fires in the Fifth Region.

The fund will be active starting today and contributions can be made in money or specific types through the website ventas.hacienda.gob.cl. “There is no minimum donation and it can be made from Chile or from abroad,” said the Head of State.

Furthermore, he declared that “the economic dimensions and resources that we are going to need are very high, and the State will certainly make available everything that is necessary, but the support, as much as we have seen from foreign countries, as well as the Public-private collaboration will also be very welcome and is necessary to be able to face the full dimension of the challenges we have.”

Therefore, he called on the private world and businessmen “to redouble this effort and contribute to the Reconstruction Fund. We need this solidarity that characterizes our country to be able to move forward.”

Bonus for victims

At the same time, the president announced the start of the first payments of the Recovery Bonus, initially intended for nearly 2,000 families who lost their homes in Quilpué, Viña del Mar and Villa Alemana.

The first payment will be 1.5 million pesos for 910 families from Quilpué, 943 from Viña del Mar and 77 from Villa Alemana, which imply a total of around 2,790 million pesos from the treasury, Boric detailed.
