The repercussions of the sharp dispute between the Lebanese artist Elissa and her compatriots, artist Ziad Bourji and writer Ahmed Madi, are still continuing.
Producer and music composer Osama Rahbani, head of the Council of Authors and Composers in Lebanon, revealed the crisis of Elisa’s song “Ana Wa Bass”, which was presented by Borgy before her under the name “Batair”.
In a media intervention, Rahbani spoke regarding a mistake that Burji committed without noticing, explaining that the authors of the song, as poetry and music, are definitely Ziad Burji and Ahmed Madi, but the concession that Burji gave to Elissa includes all the details.
old concessions
He added that this means that the composer Ziad Bourji left for himself only the right of public performance guaranteed to him in any case, in addition to the mechanical copyright, stressing that this type of concession is old.
He also continued that Elissa had acquired, by virtue of Ziad Bourji’s waiver, rights equal to the rights of the publisher, and therefore he was not entitled to record and broadcast it on the radio, and anyone wishing to make a “remix” of the song must obtain permission from it.
He stated that Ziad and Ahmed did not preserve their rights to broadcast and download the song via digital platforms, especially since there is a fundamental problem that lies in the loss of the song’s revenue from YouTube to everyone, because of the presence of two songs with the same melody and words.
It is noteworthy that these developments came following Elissa announced the prosecution of Ziad Bourji and the poet Ahmed Madi because of their release of the song, although they gave it up in her favour.
The owner of “Ajmal Ehsas” confirmed that she has documents that prove the illegality of the song “I am Bass” and that she will also take all legal measures once morest this infringement.
Her statement described the song “Webtair” by Ziad Bourji as just a pirated copy of the original sung by Elissa.
