In response to the forecasted severe weather conditions, the Brownsville and Hidalgo ports of entry will temporarily suspend processing of CBP One appointments on Monday, July 8, 2024. This precautionary measure is intended to ensure the safety of all individuals involved.
Individuals with confirmed CBP One appointments for the dates listed above will be able to reschedule for Tuesday, July 9, with this option extended through the end of the week.
It is important to note that adverse weather may result in further adjustments to operations. CBP will be responsible for notifying affected parties and appropriate travel liaisons. Updated information on operational status will be available on CBP.gov and BWT CBP.
The border is not open to migrants crossing
Once once more, immigration authorities remind that U.S. immigration laws remain strict, and the border is not open to illegal migration. Generally, non-citizens who cross the southern border illegally will not be eligible for asylum, except in exceptionally compelling circumstances or under the exceptions established by the Proclamation.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), also part of the Department of Homeland Security, advises people in the potential path of the storm to closely monitor the weather, follow the instructions of local officials and evacuate immediately if directed to do so.
To receive real-time weather alerts and locate emergency shelters, it is recommended that you download the FEMA mobile app. Additional emergency preparedness information is available at Ready.gov and Listo.gov.
