Bordeaux: the new Deschamps-Belvédère district is making its mark on the right bank

In the maze of new streets and brand new buildings perched in the Bordeaux sky, it is sometimes difficult to find your way. Long an urban planning project in the form of a plan, the Deschamps-Belvédère district, on the right bank, has been very real for a couple of years, and it takes on a little more depth over the months, as certain projects are completed or businesses set up. And if some streets seem deserted, the saturation of certain classes at the very recent Marie-de-Gournay elementary school testifies to a significantly increasing population in the area. “The district is certainly incomplete, it is not yet completed, but it is alive and we feel that a dynamic has begun,” says Stéphane Pfeiffer, the deputy in charge of town planning at Bordeaux town hall.

At the initiative of the traders, a first inauguration of the district takes place on September 27 and 28 (read below), while awaiting the official version, in the company of elected officials, in November. Many major facilities are there, notably the Suzanne-Lenglen sports garden, inaugurated three years ago, with its collective field spaces and tennis courts. “From the outside, we have the impression that this district is steep with its very tall towers, but once we enter it, we discover another reality, much more green,” adds Stéphane Pfeiffer.

Health center

The southern part is finished while in the north, there is still work to be done. The cranes still hover in the air, just as the sound of jackhammers and sawmills continues to punctuate the days. The work is not completed, far from it. In a few months, an outpatient health center backed by a balneotherapy offer will open its doors not far from a set of around a hundred social housing units (accessory or rental) supported by the lessor Domofrance. Daycare centers and new green spaces are also expected. Opposite the Carrefour Market, inaugurated at the beginning of spring, several dozen apartments, offices and businesses are expected to flourish: delivery is expected in 2028.

Located at the foot of the Saint-Jean bridge, “Deschamps-Belvédère” should accommodate around 3,000 homes in its final version.

In the meantime, the Hecto micro-brewery launched in the middle of summer and new stores dedicated to tea or sushi should open soon. By the end of the year, around 3,000 residents should have taken up residence in this new district. This figure is expected to peak at 7,500, once all of the 3,400 planned housing units are delivered.

Place Marie-de-Gournay: lots of entertainment

This Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28, Place Marie-de-Gournay will bustle to the rhythm of the events. Friday, a giant coloring in front of the school and sports activities will be offered from 4:30 p.m. Then, in particular, a “Hello neighbors! » hosted by Philippe Maurice will begin at 6:30 p.m., with numerous gifts to be won (by reservation).
