Tunisia aims to create regarding 50,000 additional jobs in the Textile-Clothing sector by 2026, in accordance with its 2023-2025 development plan, according to the Tunisian Ministry of Economy and Planning.
These jobs should be created within the framework of the textile and clothing sector pact put in place by the Tunisian government, said Economy Minister Samir Saied, quoted by local media.
And to add this vision is structured around 6 axes, of which mainly, the development of human resources and the orientation of the TH sector towards high technology activities and high added value.
“The government is working, within the framework of a common objective, with all the stakeholders of the TH sector to increase the value of the sector’s exports from 2.4 billion euros to 4 billion euros, with a growth rate of 5% to 6% between 2022 and 2024, and 13% by 2025,” explained the manager.
The textile-clothing sector in Tunisia has 1,425 companies, including 1,150 totally exporting companies. These companies offer 153,474 jobs including 138,876 in totally exporting companies.
The countries of the European Union are the sector’s main customers, with France in the lead (38% of the value of exports) followed by Italy (34%) and Germany (11%).
