New Delhi: The Central Government has announced that Kovid vaccine booster doses will be available at private vaccination centers in the country from Sunday for all those above 18 years of age. Vaccine recipients must pay for it.
Currently, the booster dose is only available free of charge to health workers, Covid leaders, and those over 60 years of age. A large segment of the adult population in the country will also have to pay to receive the booster dose.
The government said in a statement that it would continue and accelerate the ongoing first-dose, second-dose and booster dose distributions for health workers, veterans and those over 60 through government vaccination centers.
The statement said 96 per cent of people aged 15 and above had received at least one dose of Kovid and 83 per cent had received two doses.
The government’s latest move comes in the wake of mounting covid spreads in many countries and some finding it difficult to travel abroad due to non-acceptance of the third dose. Countries like Israel do not accept that vaccination is complete unless they receive a booster dose.
