Four “homemade” tips!
Have the flu or symptoms flu-like is not pleasant because you feel very unwell, tired with muscle and even joint pain. Additionally, having a sore throatand stuffy nose or a incessant cough is not only unpleasant, it can hamper your daily life sometimes for up to ten days or more.
This is why today we will share the best plants, nutrients et remedies to support the immune health.
Vitamins and minerals: the pillars of immunity!
Vitamin C is an important vitamin for the immune system because it helps us make antibodies and immune cells to protect us once morest viruses and bacteria. Increase your dietary intake of vitamin C by eating kiwis, citrus fruits, green vegetables, cabbage and sauerkraut. For additional supplementation, the recommended daily dose for adults is between 500 and 2000 mg. You can take up to 10,000 mg when you feel unwell. Be aware that diarrhea can occur when taking vitamin C in high doses; if this happens, stop until it goes away, then reduce the dose.
To vitamins A is essential to the integrity of the body’s mucous membranes, particularly the respiratory system. It prevents bacteria and viruses from crossing the mucosa, causing inflammation and damaging cells. We also need vitamin A to make antibodies that protect us once morest future infections. Adults need 700 to 900 mg of vitamin A per day. You can get vitamin A from organ meats, butter, cod liver oil, eggs, etc. Don’t talk to me regarding vegetables, beta-carotene is not retinol, word to the wise, hello!
Vitamin D plays a vital role in helping our bodies prevent infections. It helps our T cells (the “soldier” immune cells) seek out foreign invaders and destroy them. Vitamin D levels tend to drop during the winter months as our exposure to sunlight decreases. Low vitamin D levels can make you vulnerable to infections. It is best to take a blood test to check your levels before taking a supplement. The recommended daily dose for adults is 400 to 800 IU; those with low levels may need to supplement between 1,000 and 5,000 IU per day. Food sources include cod liver oil, hemp oil, flaxseed, bone broths, mackerel, salmon, chanterelles and egg yolks. Don’t underestimate sun exposure, it’s essential even beyond nutrition and supplementation.
Le zinc is a vital mineral necessary for more than 300 processes in the body, including cell growth and repair. We need zinc for our immune system to function effectively. It helps our T cells do their job and protects our cells from viruses. Adults need 8 to 11 mg per day, however, up to 50 mg per day may be needed in cases of immune deficiency or illness. Food sources of zinc include oysters (my favorite source), organ meats, chickpeas, lentils, beans, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, cashews and almonds.
Probiotics help restore intestinal microflora, particularly in cases of overgrowth of bad bacteria that can contribute to a reduction in immune function (consider treating your intestines before starting a course of treatment). Fermented foods can be a good source of probiotics; consume Kefirfrom Sauerkrautof Kombucha a you kimchi.
We recommend that you consult a naturopath or one nutritionist qualified before self-supplementing, because they will be able to advise you on the dose and procedures best suited to your profile.

Here are some of our favorite herbs for boosting the immune system:

Five Home Remedies to Relieve Flu Symptoms
Of the home remedies simple methods can be very effective in relieving the symptoms of flu. Here are 5 that we recommend:
1. Gargling in salt water are great for sore throats. Use real sea salt: not “The Whale” salt!
2. Saunas/steam baths. Add 3 to 5 drops of essential oil (EO) of lavender, ravintsara and eucalyptus globulus, in a bowl of boiling water before going to bed. These EOs are antiviral, antibacterial and promote sleep. This synergy also provides mild pain relief. Avoid using citrus, eucalyptus or tea tree essential oils, especially on sensitive children and elderly people, as these oils are quite strong and can cause sensitivity.
3. Raw honey, lemon, ginger and garlic in hot water and sipped. This immune tea works wonders!
4. Onion syrup (you can also do this with garlic or ginger) to relieve nasal congestion and cough.
- Finely cut an onion and spread it on a plate,
- Drizzle with raw honey (or maple syrup) and cover with a plate,
- Leave for ½ to 1 hour so that a thin syrup flows from the onion,
- Squeeze or grate the onion to extract as much juice as possible,
- Discard the onion and store the honey syrup/onion juice in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid,
- Take a teaspoon as needed directly on the tongue or in lukewarm water. The syrup will keep for a few days in the refrigerator.
5. Get a humidifier at home and in the office because central heating dries the air and our mucous membranes. When our mucous membranes are dry, we become more susceptible to pathogens because they can pass through the membranes more easily.
