Hassan Abdullah, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, delivered Egypt’s speech during the activities of the annual session of the Executive Board of the World Food Program in Rome, which dealt with the Council’s adoption of the program’s strategic plan for Egypt for the next five years 2023-2028, at a value of $431 million.

During his speech, Hassan Abdullah reviewed the efforts made by the state in the areas of activity of the World Food Program in Egypt, as well as within the framework of its next plan, which amounts to regarding $431 million, and is being implemented in cooperation and coordination with the relevant ministries and government agencies, noting that the plan focuses on supporting The agricultural sector, promoting financial inclusion, supporting small farmers, empowering women in rural areas, and providing support for refugees in Egypt, as the goals of the plan are in line with the sustainable development priorities of the Egyptian government, and focus on supporting the decent life initiative to develop the villages of the Egyptian countryside.

The Governor of the Central Bank also met with Cindy McCain, CEO of the World Food Program, at his headquarters, and in the presence of Ambassador Bassam Rady, Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy, where they discussed the fruitful cooperation partnership between the two sides and the program’s work activity in Egypt, especially with regard to enhancing financial inclusion for small farmers and providing technical support.

McCain emphasized the program’s pride in the role played by Egypt in supporting the program’s work, especially in light of the unprecedented successive humanitarian crises in the region.

On his part; Bassam Rady confirmed that the new plan for the World Food Program reflects the depth of the long-term strategic partnership that links Egypt with the World Food Program, which is one of the largest international organizations involved in supporting humanitarian efforts and food security in the world, explaining that the embassy has, during the past period, provided a full and regular explanation to members The Executive Council for the unremitting efforts of the Egyptian authorities in dealing with the influx of tens of thousands of displaced Sudanese brothers across the southern borders of Egypt following the outbreak of the Sudan crisis, which was praised by all the delegations participating in the Executive Council session for Egypt’s shouldering of that humanitarian responsibility, and from Then the necessity of supporting the Egyptian authorities by the institutions of the international community.
