It’s interesting that Naito was chosen to play the detective in the first place. Speaking of Naito, I have a strong impression of him appearing in commercial dramas related to police, such as TV Asahi’s drama “Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department First Investigative Division Chief.”
Mr. Fukuoka said, “I hope you enjoy it in that sense as well.We want to have fun depicting an episode that is based on an incident that actually happened to Shizuko Kasagi (the singer who is the model for the main character, Suzuko).” When I thought about this, Naito-san came to mind. In terms of “laughter”, the line dance scene of the 112th episode of “Tokyo Boogie Woogie” broadcast on March 11th, in which composer Zenichi Hatori (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi) falls over due to excessive force, also caught my attention.
Mr. Fukuoka said, “The scene where he fell was not in the script.The script said, “Zenichi doesn’t lift his legs, but he looks like he’s having a lot of fun,” but on set, Kusanagi continued to dance with his hips flat. That scene was created because he thought it would be more interesting to go all out.I think the lines were also ad-libbed from his own feelings.If you look closely at that scene, you’ll see that Kusanagi raises his legs as hard as he can and has too much energy. He had fallen down. People around him were worried at the scene, but he remained calm and said, “It’s okay.” It seems that he was trying to stay passive so as not to get hurt. Thanks to him, it was a very charming episode. I think it has become so.”
Suzuko’s singing, dancing, and life are the main attractions of this work, but laughter is one of the core elements that make the story lively.
Mr. Fukuoka said, “Mr. Adachi said that he wanted to incorporate humor into the drama at every opportunity.At the stage of launching the drama, we even suggested that we “make sure to include laughter as well.” However, from the middle of the story onwards, when the worldview of Boogie Woogie was established, Mr. Adachi actively sprinkled in a lot of humor.I think it takes courage to write a scene where a detective eats a katsudon in a police interrogation room. However, he said, “I think it’s more interesting this way,” and I think that was an expression of his strong policy of injecting humor into every part.”
It’s not just “laughter”. This week, scenes that bring tears will be included in the 116th episode, which will be broadcast on March 15th. I’m looking forward to seeing the details, but the important role will be played by child actor Konoka (8), who plays Suzuko’s daughter Aiko.
Mr. Fukuoka said, “I chose Konoka through an audition.I liked that her acting was natural and stable.I think I was able to get a good handoff from Mion Ono, who played Aiko-chan earlier.The role of Aiko-chan was played here. Konoka-san will play the role from beginning to end.”
