HV71 has grief.

Goalkeeper legend Boo Ahl is dead – aged 54.

– He will leave a big void behind him, says Johan Davidsson.

Boo Ahl was part of and won SM gold with HV71 in 1995 and 2004, in between he took up Timrå IK in the then elite series in 2000. The goalkeeper also managed a short stay in the German Nürnberg Tigers.

Now the HV legend has died.

“An extremely heavy message”

It is HV71 themselves who announce the heavy news that the 54-year-old was killed in an accident on a holiday trip.

– It is an extremely heavy message that we have received. Bosse was loved by the HV fans and a fantastic valued and liked employee. We will remember him fondly and for the caring person he was. Our thoughts go out today to the family, says Richard Nylin, club director of HV71 in a statement.

Several of his former teammates are devastated by the news of his death.

– He was a great, kind and incredibly funny person who gave me so much joy over the years. He will leave a big void behind him, says Johan Davidsson.

– He is the kindest person in the world. A great person, has done so much for HV71. No words are enough today. Best memory with Bosse was the gold trip in 1996. I don’t know how to find any words right now. My thoughts go out to Bosse’s wife and his children, says former HV defender Pelle Gustafsson.

Debuted in 1989

Johan Lindbom fills in.

– Really tough news. As a goalkeeper, he had a great winner’s skull. As a person, he was a fantastic old man. Very social and generous. Bosse has been a part of HV71 for so long. He cared about everyone. In 1995 I scored an important goal, but without Bosse we would never have won. He was like a big Bumbi bear.

Boo Ahl was raised in HV71 and went all the way from U to A and up to the elite series. There he made his debut in the 1989 season.

After finishing his career, he worked for many years on the material side of the association.
