After finally lifting the veil on the exciting forge of Halo Infinitethe director and creator of 343 Industries has just announced her immediate departure from the studio for unforeseen family reasons.
15 years of loyal service
Bonnie Ross has worked for many years on different licenses like Gears Of War, Halo and on marketing agreements for Microsoft with Mass Effect and Jade Empire.
With her knowledge of the Halo universe described as impressive by Franck O’Connor, she took the helm of 343 Industries in 2007. Upon the release of Halo 3 this year, rumors on the net were already swirling regarding the dissociation between the Microsoft firm and Bungie. Instantly denied in order to properly celebrate the legendary release of the third installment of the license, the rumor was confirmed in 2010 following the release of Halo Reachleaving the torch to 343 Industries.
A slight restructuring within the studio
Bonne Ross had a wish to leave the studio following the winter update of Halo Infinite in order to focus on her family, but the vagaries of life meant that she had to leave in a hurry.
I’m incredibly proud of the work everyone at 343 Industries has done with Halo Infinite, the Master Chief Collection, the Halo TV series, and so much more. It has been an honor to serve alongside the studio for the past 15 years and to have been part of creating a universe that I love.
After Bonnie Ross, it’s the turn of studio veteran and head of production Pierre Hintz to take charge of the studio with immediate effect. He will be supported by two new positions that have just been created with Bryan Koski who becomes head of the franchise and Elizabeth Van Wycke for the supervision of studio affairs, according to WinodwsCentral.
A week ago, we informed you of our concern regarding the future of the license and the various debacles that Halo Infinite has experienced. It’s unlikely there will be a real kick in the anthill, but let’s still hope for a positive impact in the years to come for Microsoft’s legendary license.
As a reminder, season 3 of Halo Infinite has been postponed from November 8, 2022 to March 7, 2023, but additional content whose forge will land by the end of the year on Xbox and PC. The game’s campaign is available in the Xbox Game Pass et PC Game Pass and the multiplayer is free-to-play.
