After the Doha summit for a possible ceasefire, negotiations continue, but tensions do not stop either. US President Joe Biden urges all parties not to “undermine” negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza. Biden said that Secretary of State Antony Blinken is traveling to the Middle East “to emphasize that a ceasefire and hostage release agreement is in sight. No one in the region should take action to undermine this process.”

Biden added: “Today I received an update from my negotiating team in Doha and asked them to explain the compromise proposal presented today, which provides the basis for a final agreement on a truce and hostage release. I spoke separately with Amir Sheikh Tamim (Qatar) and President Sisi (Egypt) to review the significant progress made in Doha over the last two days of talks, and they expressed Qatar’s and Egypt’s strong support for the U.S. proposal to mediate this process. Our teams will remain in place to continue technical work in the coming days, and senior officials will reconvene in Cairo before the end of the week. They will report back to me regularly.”
