The Styria State Police Department received an email that pointed to an alleged explosive device in the school center. However, initial searches until midday did not lead to any suspicious findings, the police said.
It is not the first incident of this kind in Styria: there was only a similar threat against a high school in Graz during the autumn holidays. Because there were no students in the building at the time, it caused little attention. On the other hand, a message that announced a shooting spree in a shopping center south of Graz a few ago did. Fortunately, in this case too it was an empty threat.

**Interview with Officer Sarah Müller of the Styria State Police Department**
**Editor**: Thank you for joining us, Officer Müller. Can you first tell us about the recent bomb threat that was reported in the Styria region?
**Officer Müller**: Thank you for having me. Yes, we received an email indicating the presence of an alleged explosive device at a school center in Styria. Following standard protocols, we initiated a thorough investigation. As of midday, our initial searches did not uncover any suspicious findings, which has provided some relief to the community.
**Editor**: It’s concerning to see a pattern of these threats. Can you speak to any previous incidents that might relate to this situation?
**Officer Müller**: Certainly. Just a few months ago, we dealt with a similar threat at a high school in Graz during the autumn holidays. Since there were no students in the building at that time, it didn’t draw as much attention. However, it highlights that these types of threats are becoming somewhat common. There was also a related incident where a warning about a potential shooting spree in a shopping center was reported. Thankfully, that turned out to be an empty threat as well.
**Editor**: What protocols does the Styria State Police follow in instances like these?
**Officer Müller**: We have established guidelines to ensure the safety of students and staff during bomb threats. Upon receiving such notifications, we quickly collaborate with the school’s administration and local authorities to evacuate the premises if necessary. We also maintain continuous communication with our community throughout the process to keep them informed.
**Editor**: How does the community typically respond to these threats?
**Officer Müller**: The community tends to react with concern, understandably. Parents and students may feel anxious, especially considering the frequency of such incidents. We’re committed to addressing these threats seriously, but we also encourage everyone to stay informed about our safety protocols and to report any suspicious behavior or communication they encounter.
**Editor**: Thank you for your insights, Officer Müller. It’s reassuring to know that safety measures are in place, even in challenging situations.
**Officer Müller**: Thank you for having me. We appreciate the opportunity to keep the public informed and safe.
